Once
a month, my staff holds a team meeting. One of the
first agenda items is Success Stories because it emphasizes
successful teamwork and gives everyone an opportunity
to share and applaud the outstanding achievements of our
fellow team members. Sometimes even a small
achievement is cause for celebration and will inspire
bigger, farther-reaching efforts. Without competing
against each other, we can genuinely admire the hard work
each of us puts into a normal workday. It's a great
time to step back and show appreciation.

can also see Dr. Steven Thompson's news
stories. He wrote
this comment: "The
attention this has generated amazes me. We have had a
number of articles published over the years because of our
involvement with various charitable events, but nothing has
ever generated the kind of response that this has.
People are going out of their way to tell me they saw these
articles in the paper....Even my 17 year-old daughter thinks
[it's] cool!"
JJ
from Advanced Dental Concepts in Broomall, PA, said: "FINALLY
after much hard work we are now listed on over 13 popular
event [sites] AND we just got interviewed last night by one
of Philadelphia's biggest News Talk stations - Big Talker
1210 AM! Woo! Finally some live media coverage!
We are only hoping it gets [bigger] from here!"
Do
not waste this amazing opportunity to attract new
patients with this Halloween Candy Buy Back event.
Make an irresistible offer to the families when they arrive
so they will want to see you for all their dental needs!
You can offer coupons for your most popular service,
discounts on a first-time dental visit, specials on
whitening, etc. Not only are you the dentist who cares
enough about the community to hold this Halloween Candy
Buy Back, but you are the best dentist around!
Some
people object to sending candy to the troops, thinking that
they may get cavities. "Isn't Halloween candy as
bad for troops as it is for kids?" is a type of
question I hear a lot. If you get negative comments or
feedback, here are my responses to diffuse negativity and
remind critics of the purpose of Halloween Candy Buy Back:
1.
Halloween candy represents a warm memory of life back home
and children that care enough to donate candy in support of
our troops.
2.
Those troops are risking their lives every day. If a
little piece of candy can provide a moment of happiness,
then I'm all for it.
3.
Soldiers are adults and certainly understand how to keep
their mouths health by now. Children are still
learning how to brush, floss, and take care of their teeth.
Hallowen is a mere week away! We can't wait to hear
how your Halloween Candy Buy Back went. Please share
your stories with us and let us know how much candy you
collected, how many children came in, etc.
The last newsletter had a false link for the list of
dentists who are hosting a Halloween Candy Buy Back in their
office, although the typed-out URL was correct. Please
click
here for the correct link. And remember, if your
name is not on this
list and you are planning to host a Buy Back in your office,
please send an e-mail message to
jenny@thesmileexperts.com
with "Add me" in the subject line and your
office's contact info in the message. The list will be
updated as needed.
Make
sure your staff and office are ready for this fun
event, and make it enjoyable for the children who
bring in their candy. Let your imagination run
the day!
